Feeling cultured
Firstly I'd like to thank everyone who's commented on my blog recently, it always brightens my day to know someone's actually spent the time to read what I've written and respond in some way =)
Last night was really fun and alot better than I expected. I was expecting mostly amatures who weren't the best at poetry, but in fact it was mostly middle class people, I know that things aren't really defined that way very much now but it's the best word to describe the people there, and there were also some famous published poets too. So it was a really good mix of random different poetry which made me laugh, feel sad, feel happy and feel most other emotions too. I've never really gotten poetry but going to that has made me understand it alot better. It really is better to hear it spoken by the person it was written by as they write it how they would say it and you can never know how they want it said unless it's either written with lots of commas and dashes and things or they say it themselves.
It's definately going into my dairy as a must do every month. It is once a month so now I have science in the pub the first tuesday of every month and poetry readings in the pub the first wednesday of every month =)
It really did inspire me to want to write my own poetry. The whole walk home, all of 5mins, I spent thinking of a poem I want to write. I have a first draftish which I am going to read over now and I may share my poem once I feel it's finished and maybe one day I'll have the confidence to get up and read it. The atmosphere of the night was lovely. Everyone was really friendly and jolly and just happy to be there. They made you feel very welcome and comfortable enough to stand up and say what you want to say in front of them, so one day perhaps and a pint or two might help this along =)
I've just realised it's taken me nearly two hours to finish replying to emails, reading new blog posts and writing my blog. It gets longer and longer every day I have so much to go through, I'm glad I've found something to keep me occupied :)
Oh yeah, my boots are so comfy and kept my feet perfectly warm and dry and I love my new bag it's so practical =)

Poetry night? Awesome! I'd love to go to something like that, but I like to sort of digest poetry over a long period of time so I don't think I'd have much to say... Would love to hear your piece!
