Science is fun :)

What an awesome day yesterday was!!!!!!!!  I woke up next to my bf =)  There was a beautiful blue sky. My afternoon was spent playing with liquid nitrogen and floating pencils!!!  I felt like such a kid playing around yesterday =)  We were throwing the liquid nitrogen round the room (not at each other just into space) and we were going to either end of the desks and throwing it down and watching it collide some where in the middle.  We also blew up balloons and put them inside a container with liquid nitrogen, since it's so cold it took all the air out of the balloons and made them flat then when we took the balloons they self inflated =)  We also made some really loud bangs with nitrogen filled balloons and an extremely cold ball pool ball =)  Fun fun!!!!

This is the cool balloon thing :)  Basically what happens when you put the balloon into the liquid nitrongen it's at a very low temperature so low that the gas inside the balloon turns into a liquid causing the balloon to shrink and once you take it out the liquid begins to boil and turns into a gas =)

The floating pencil thing is cool too and it's an experiment we're getting the kids to do in our talk on wed :)  Basically you have a set of magnets and you use them to levitate the pencil!

This is a model maglev train they actually have maglev trains now in japan and china :) I appologise for how boring this is but if you skip to the end there's a really cool possibility that I hope they develop as it would be so cool =)

Happy tuesday :)
