I'm no art critic

I have been up since 6:30am on a Sunday!!!!!  That’s insane for me I don’t think I’ve done that in a very long time or at least not without a good reason.  I got a lot of stuff sorted and a lot of thinking done.  Realised a few things that I really need to get done, it’s strange being a grown up and paying bills sorting out taxes and making sure I have food and everything!  I have just noticed that I got back in just before the rain :)

I decided to take myself for a wander into town, which means walking out of the door and going in any direction :)  I remembered the Picasso exhibit was on at the Tate and I’d wanted to go see it since it opened.  I didn’t want to go if it was too busy but thankfully it wasn’t :)  I am so glad I went and I’m definitely going again, how often is it that you get to walk 5mins from your flat to such an amazing exhibit!  I knew that he was good but actually seeing his pieces for myself I was in awe of the awesomeness =)

I know I’m not art minded, I’m a scientist, but I do still appreciate the beauty and emotion that can be conveyed in a wonderful piece of art.  I think it’s amazing seeing some of his works and really feeling how he felt or an emotion portrayed by the person in the picture.  It was an awesome feeling noticing the inspiration other artists, like David Hockney, had found in his work and realising how much of influence the paintings and drawings I was looking at had on so many people and on the past.  My mind is just in awe of his ability!

The exhibit was cool showing his progression from the traditional to the modern and abstract.  I really love his abstract work, I find some of it easy to understand and the bright colours and craziness I’d like to think are similar to my personality, not that my personality is any where near the league of a Picasso!!!

There were so many good pieces and so many that I like that I hadn’t even seen before, which is my own fault since I’ve not paid that much attention to art throughout my life.  It has definitely inspired me to pay more interest in art and Barcelona is now high on my list of places to visit not only for its beauty but for the permanent Picasso exhibit there =)

This was very difficult but here a few of my favourites :)

The progression to get this was shown and it's so cool how he went from a complicated drawing of the dove to this which is so simple!

I loved his work on skulls not just human but animal too :)

This really shows the colourful childish nature of some of his work but I still really love this =)

Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend =)
