e to the i pi

I was randomly going through some xkcd comics and I found this one which I relly love and really speaks to the physicist in me =)

i is an imaginary number which is equal to

it is used to solve equations that require square rooting negative number since we all learnt in school that that wasn't possible this is where i comes in
and

which is a mathematical constant worked out from the circumference of a circle divided by the diameter of the circle

e is a lot more complicated to describe but here goes.  The simplest way to describe it I've found is if something was getting bigger at a rate proportional to how big it was already it would be decribed as exponential growth.  So the rate of change is itself.  That's probably not very clear but here and here should describe it better.

I just find it pretty amazing that these threee numbers relate together in such a nice way, it rather beautiful and I wanted to share it.  Apologies if you alread know this and for the very maths based post but I love how simple yet complex this is =)

I now have 45 things on my list of 101 things to do so it's getting there and I shall post it once I'm done.  It is proving quite difficult now but maybe I need to sleep on it :)

sorry for the profanity I only noticed it after I'd finished my post

See, I knew this, and then forgot, but still, yes it is beautiful, because huh, wth that's science and math, and quite wonderful that it exist!
